Immigration to The Netherlands: Frequent changes

Law and regulations upon Immigration to The Netherlands are liable to frequent changes and modifications. The reason for this situation is that the policy, circulars and legal cases are mainly determined by the Dutch Immigration board (IND). Therefore, it is less decided by the law.

European Immigration regulations and legal execution will also influence the Dutch Immigration Law. Requirements valid today are not necessarily valid tomorrow. If one wants to know this area well, s/he will have to keep up with the changing policies and overlook the whole situation of Dutch Immigration.

Immigration and the Dutch Immigration Board (IND)

IND is very strict about granting a residence permit, as The Netherlands officially implemented a policy of limitation of (non-EU) immigration. Therefore, an application for a residence permit will be easily rejected if one does not meet all the immigration requirements. Mistakes made in the application can cause fatal failure that are not to be recovered in a later stage. It is recommended to use a lawyer who actually has this expertise of applying for a residence permit.
